One of the ideals I want to pursue as a narrative within the school board is:
Keep the parents first, followed by teachers and students. Parents need to have a dictating, strong and consequential voice in school board policy.
I will make sure that there is accountability in our Fort McMurray school board working and policy to the parents and to the wider community. There needs to be an enhancement to parents’ participation and voice when it comes to their children and in regards to drafting school board policy.
Curriculum needs to be drafted more at the municipal level aligned with the economic, geographical and traditional values of parents and there needs to be lesser provincial involvement in this. That alone will be true to the very nature of municipal affairs that we claim we represent and as candidates plunge in to run.
